The lectures organised by the Collegium Alexandrinum are open to both members of the University and the general public. The lecture series offers an insight into the various research areas covered by the institutes, clinics and research centres at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). The Collegium Alexandrinum also offers guided tours through FAU collections and gardens.
Every year in January, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, the Ohm University of Applied Sciences, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Lutheran University of Applied Sciences and the Nuremberg University of Music invite students, their family and friends to a formal ball. Numerous guests of honour from academia, the media, politics and industry also attend this social event.
FAU's Schlossgartenfest is one of the largest and most impressive garden parties in Europe. On the last Saturday in June, FAU's President invites students, members of staff and friends of FAU alongside a number of high-ranking guests from politics, industry and academia to join him for a enjoyable night of dancing and music in the Schlossgarten.
Long Night of Science
Meet Emperor Augustus in the fourth dimension, watch the world's fastest CT creating a 3D image of the human heart or discover metals that are so light that they float in milk. With more than 400 contributions, FAU is the largest project partner of the Long Night of Science. The next Long Night of Science will take place in October 2013.
