The Referat für Internationale Angelegenheiten -Central Office for International Affairs – is responsible all international matters relating to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. It runs, among other things, exchange programmes in co-operation with other universities around the world. A significant part of its work is the reception and integration of international exchange and scholarship students and researchers (including those funded by foundations, companies or governments), offering advice and support at all stages of the stay in Erlangen or Nuremberg. Beyond this, the Central International Office is responsible for all students planning a stay abroad as part of an exchange, as well as for university staff wishing to establish or maintain such an exchange. (International full degree students and applicants are asked to please contact the Information & Advice Centre, and NOT the International Office).

The International Office is also responsible for the awarding of scholarships to full degree students and for the organisation of the German language preparatory courses for international guest lecturers and exchange students only available in German.
