In the autumn of 2007 a ‘Mentoring Programme’ was established at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg to provide support for international students, who intend to complete their entire degree course in Germany. The founding principle of the mentoring programme is that non-German students who have been studying at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg for some time give assistance to international first-semester students in their first few weeks in Germany.

Mentors

Mentors are predominantly students of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg from non-EU countries who provide assistance to new international students for approximately 6 weeks before the start of semester. They help the new student with finding accommodation, bureaucratic formalities, registering for courses and much more.

Support

Support is provided in mentor pairs. Each mentor is responsible for between one and three new students.
