The KW 21 Initiative is making a fundamental contribution to transforming the power stations of the future, making them greener, more efficient and cost-effective and, in particular, ensuring they emit less carbon dioxide.
-
The research network ForNeuroCell will contribute essentially to the development of a regenerative cell replacement therapy for acute and chronic diseases of the central nervous system on the basis of adult stem cells.
-
Highly flexible business processes require a dynamic and extensible behaviour repertoire from their supporting IT-systems. There is a high need for research and development with regard to the requirements, structural and behaviour properties of highly flexible business processes and their software support. The Research Cooperation forFLEX has ist focus on that need.
-
The FORLAYER Research Association develops tailor-made wear protection solutions for tools used in primary forming and deformation technology which represent core elements in many key industries.
-
The members of FORKAST research the repercussions of climate upon eco-systems and make thorough investigations in reference to the following central issues: How do extreme climatic conditions affect the characteristics of ecological systems and functions? How are ecological processes, such as the production of biomass or the interaction between animals and plants, affected?
-
With innovative solutions FORETA aims to increase energy efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises. The focus of the research lies on availability, efficiency and energy-storaging.
-
As a material, glass has particularly strong potential to make sunlight directly usable as an energy source. To this end, characteristics such as reflection, transmission and wavelength conversion can be used selectively and combined with other functions, such as photocatalysis, hydrophily and biocidity to obtain new materials that can be synergetically integrated in building, glass and photovoltaic technologies which, to date, have mostly been developed separately.
-
The aim of this research cooperation group is to further develop and apply the analytical, numerical and experimental principles for noise reduction in technical processes. The objective is to provide tools and methods to influence noise in such a way that its perception by the human ear is significantly reduced.
-
Fostering the use of modern supercomputers within scientifically and industrially oriented research communities to solve scientifically challenging and technically highly relevant problems is the main focus of the Competence Network for Technical and Scientific High Performance Computing in Bavaria (KONWIHR).
-
The research association's goal is to find technical solutions in the areas of "people living independently for longer", "people staying mobile for longer" and "people staying professionally active for longer". These solutions should allow older people to remain active at home, in employment, in communication with the environment and mobile, as the average age of the population continues to rise and the number of young people who are able to work falls.
-
The research project aims at collecting data from different phases of a construction project: This leads to virtual landscapes, through which the construction site comes to life (4D-information system of the construction site). The thus emerging model shall be used and constantly developed over all phases of the project.
-
The association's scientific projects use a model plant, the arabidopsis thaliana, to research plants' adaptability in combined stress situations, such as aridity, heat and pathogens which can be caused in particular by climate change.
