FAU offers a variety of services to support its researchers in the application for both state research funding and third-party funds. The Research Support Office, called F1, provides advice on all questions concerning the promotion and funding of research.
F1 forms part of Department F (Research and Finances) of FAU's Central Administration. The Research Office constitutes a service institution open to all members of the university who are interested in programmes on the promotion of research or who conduct third-party funded projects. Moreover, the Support Office provides information to all university institutions interested in research.
F1 deals primarily with the following issues
- Administrative and legal processing of all types of third-party funded projects (EU, DFG, Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), further Federal Ministries, State Ministries, industry funding, foundations, other funding institutions)
- Provision of programme documents, information packages, application forms; setting up of contact to the respective reference persons (e. g. the project coordinators at BMBF)
- Advice and support in application processes; review and completion of research and development contracts
- Information, advice and support in the search for adequate funding institutions and programmes; information on current calls for programmes for the promotion of research
