Within the framework of knowledge and technology transfer (KTT), the university aims to use new research findings in cooperation with industry  – as quickly and efficiently as possible – in an attempt to produce new products and services and to positively shape social development. The KTT contact centre is responsible for initiating and assisting cooperation between companies and the university: as far as companies are concerned, the centre serves as their main point of contact and negotiator when looking for the correct expert at the university. For departments and consultants the centre acts as their partner for all contractual issues as well as administrative and financial project management.

Numerous cooperative projects between industrial partners and the university ensure the speedy transfer of research findings, for example, in molecular biomedicine and medical technology, the development of customized materials and efficient production processing, in electronics and information technology as well as optics and the field of optical technologies. Conducting this direct, practice-oriented research has led to the Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg’s collaboration with numerous companies both in Germany and further afield.
