General advice on study programmes at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg
What help can the IBZ provide for me?
As the central advisory service at the University we can help you with information on possible study courses and subject combinations, application requirements and procedures, as well as with organizing your study programme and complying with all assessment / examination requirements. We are often asked for advice on the following problems: settling in at the beginning of the semester; coping with particular difficulties; changing subject or programme; suspending studies. The IBZ also provides a Careers Service. Should you need someone to talk to about your studies, please do not hesitate to contact us. You should also remember that your professor or teacher at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg can also provide you with advice on your studies
Where should I go for help? What are the opening times?
There is a drop-in service from Monday to Friday, 8am – 6pm, at the Advisory Office (“Beratungsbüro”) of the IBZ in Erlangen, Schlossplatz 3/Halbmondstraße 6, Room 0.021. Here you can get quick answers to your questions, pick up information brochures and have a short discussion.
What happens if I need a longer appointment?
An appointment for an individual advice session must be arranged either by telephone or in person. We also request that you read all our available information before you attend your appointment.
Is there any particular information for new students?
Yes, all first-semester students are invited to a talk entitled “An easy start to studying”, ("Studienanfang leicht gemacht") given by one of the IBZ advisors. This talk is given several times during the weeks before the semester begins.
Are there information brochures available?
We provide detailed infomation on all the important topics relating to study. This information is available online here or can be obtained during the drop-in service times.
Who can I speak to for advice at the IBZ?
